(WASHINGTON, D.C.) (August 1, 2018) \u2013 <\/strong>The Washington, D. C. Campus\u2019 Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program<\/a> has been granted accreditation by the Board of Directors of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).<\/p>\n

CACREP is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. CACREP provides recognition that the content and quality of a program has been evaluated and meets standards set by the profession. As the accreditation is retroactive to 18 months, the 2017 graduate class of the Washington, D.C. Campus<\/a> program is considered to have graduated from an accredited program.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cCACREP accreditation is a milestone we are so proud to have reached,\u201d said Department Chair Dr. Susan Branco. \u201cIt is confirmation of the commitment our faculty and staff have to the success of our students. The accreditation speaks to the efficacy of our program, one which offers our students all the necessary competencies, including ethics, diagnosis, assessment and counseling interventions within a multicultural and social justice framework. Our graduates are prepared to work with a wide-range of clients, including children and adolescents, adults, families and couples.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cCongratulations to Dr. Branco and the faculty and staff! I am proud of the work they have done to make the program successful, and to achieve accreditation,\u201d said Washington, D.C. Campus Dean Dr. Heather Sheets. \u201cThey have developed a program of distinction for our students, and this accreditation is recognition of their hard work and dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n
