(LOS ANGELES) (OCTOBER 5, 2016)\u2014<\/strong>The Chicago School<\/a>, <\/strong>one of the leading nonprofit universities devoted exclusively to psychology, and related behavioral health sciences, will open a new campus location in the City of San Diego in fall 2017. The new campus will allow easier access to the institution\u2019s degree programs for those who live in the southernmost region of California, and will also provide greater on ground training opportunities for students who are interested in working in diverse communities. The Chicago School is regionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission.<\/p>\n

As a result of this expansion, The Chicago School will be positioned to extend its hands-on practicum and internship opportunities to students in the area. Graduate students in The Chicago School\u2019s Los Angeles Campus Marital and Family Therapy Program already travel to San Diego to participate in practicum training at Generate Hope,<\/a> an organization that provides a safe place for survivors of sex trafficking.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur impact has been widely felt in the Southern California region for nearly a decade as a result of our exceptional academic program offerings and community service initiatives. In just a short time, over 1,000 students have joined our Los Angeles Campus and Irvine Branch Campuses because of our reputation and timeless mission,\u201d said Dr. Nealon. \u201cIn addition to now providing over 22 academic programs, we have a community engagement model that\u00a0impacts countless lives as a result of our partnerships with more than 500 nonprofit agencies across the country such as the Los Angeles Mission, Illinois Connections for Families of the Fallen, and the D.C. Child Family Services Agency. And, our service commitment now yields over 1 million hours of community-based impact services annually.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chicago School also has on ground campuses in Chicago and Washington, D.C. as well as a successful Online Campus. The institution\u2019s unique Engaged Professional Model of Education<\/a> enables students to bridge theory into real-world practice, both locally and globally, and helps prepare graduates as leaders to find solutions to the challenges of our changing society. The University\u2019s community service initiatives have earned The Chicago School\u2019s campuses a place on the President\u2019s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for several consecutive years, while its commitment to providing a rich learning environment for military students has garnered recognition as a Military Friendly School for three consecutive years.<\/p>\n
