(WASHINGTON, D.C.) (October 28, 2016)<\/strong> Dr. Theodore P. Remley, Jr. addressed Washington, D.C. Campus <\/a>and Online<\/a> graduates at the October 28th commencement ceremony by impressing upon them the importance of hard work for achieving success.<\/p>\n

\u201cI decided to pass on to you graduates some sage advice that has been handed out at graduation ceremonies like this one over the years by famous people from all walks of life,\u201d he told the graduates. \u201c\u2026the bottom line to all of this wisdom is that this degree you\u2019re earning isn\u2019t enough to accomplish success. The degree gives you a tremendous advantage in our society, but the degree will pay off only if you continue to work hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Washington, D.C. Campus celebrated its fifth commencement ceremony with more than 115 graduates, many of whom were from The Chicago School\u2019s Online Program<\/a>. The Washington, D.C. Campus offers courses in 14 different<\/a> psychology and behavioral programs, and concentrations. The Chicago School is one of the leading nonprofit graduate institutions dedicated to psychology and behavioral health sciences.<\/p>\n

Dr. Remley<\/a> is a professor of counseling at Our Lady of Holy Cross College and has directed counselor institutes in Italy, Ireland, Bhutan, Buenos Aires and Malawi. A national certified counselor, he has served as a former executive director of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the world\u2019s largest association exclusively representing professional counselors in various practice settings and is licensed as a professional counselor in several states.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were thrilled to have a scholar and professional of Dr. Remley\u2019s stature and reputation share insights with our graduates, all of whom are prepared to go out into the world and impact the field, people and communities,\u201d said Heather Sheets, Psy.D., campus dean, Washington, D.C. Campus. \u201cOur campus has seen a number of successes in the past year, and Dr. Remley\u2019s acceptance of our Honorary Degree of Letters is another accomplishment of which we are proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Washington, D.C. Campus has had much to celebrate this year. Its Clinical Psy.D. Program<\/a> received a seven-year accreditation from the American Psychology Association; the campus was awarded a $50,000 grant for Business Psychology<\/a> faculty to provide consultation regarding implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; and Dr. Catherine Roland, chair of its Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program<\/a>, assumed the role of president of the ACA.<\/p>\n

Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology<\/a> graduate Lindsay Keiser was chosen as student speaker, and also addressed her fellow graduates at the ceremony, while Dr. Tracy Dillinger (Chicago Campus Clinical Psy.D., 1994), manager of Safety Culture at NASA, was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year award.<\/p>\n
