Titled, \u201c<em>Raising Resilient Children: Prioritizing their Mental Health<\/em>,\u201d the conference will be held at the Beth Emet Synagogue in Evanston, IL\u00a0 and will address several key issues impacting youth and families today. <a href=\"https:\/\/nrciconference2017.eventbrite.com\">Registration<\/a> is now open.<\/p>\n<p>The conference brings together nationally recognized experts and local resources to help parents, grandparents and other caring adults gain essential knowledge and support to raise children who will have the skills they need to grow into emotionally healthy, well-adjusted adults that can live satisfying lives and be active in their communities. Expert speakers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ama-assn.org\/louis-j-kraus-md\">Louis Kraus, M.D.<\/a>, Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.feinberg.northwestern.edu\/faculty-profiles\/az\/profile.html?xid=13337\">Mark Reinecke, Ph.D.<\/a>, Chief Psychologist, Division of Psychology, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lfh.org\/press_release_detail&amp;storyID=5394\">Rabbi Eleanor Smith, M.D.<\/a>, Internist, Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thechasinghopefoundation.com\/us\/christine-walker\/\">Christine Walker, MPPA,<\/a> Founder, The Chasing Hope Foundation, which seeks to fill the void in community-based supports for children with autism and related conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Schuyler Walker, 16-year old mental health and special education advocate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thechicagoschool.edu\/chicago\/our-community\/chicago-leadership\/\">Tiffany Masson, Psy.D.<\/a>, Campus Dean of The Chicago School\u2019s Chicago Campus will moderate the conference, which will feature 19 discussion groups, designed not only to inform, but also to help advance the discussion about mental and behavioral issues affecting children. They include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Early Childhood: Right from the Start, What Parents Need to Know<\/li>\n<li>Children who Learn and See the World Differently<\/li>\n<li>Depression and Anxiety in Children and Teens<\/li>\n<li>How Schools Help Your Child\u2019s Behavioral and Educational Needs: Know Your Rights and Resources<\/li>\n<li>How Violence Affects the Lives of Our Children and Communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>There is no cost to attend the conference, but a voluntary fee of $45 per person would be appreciated. Offered LCSW and LCPC CEUs are $20. The Institute provides educational programs and supports organizations engaged in mental health research, education, self-help, anti-discrimination and advocacy. The institute annually plans, promotes and underwrites a Community Mental Health Conference.
