The Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM) approaches patient care from a modern understanding of health and well-being, one that places mental and physical health on equal footing when it comes to overall wellness.

As a medical student in our DO degree program in Chicago, you will train side by side with future psychologists and behavioral health professionals to learn how to integrate traditional osteopathic medicine with advanced skills in mental health. This unique interprofessional programming produces far-reaching benefits to your career in medicine and the patients you will serve.

Our program also places a strong emphasis on patient-centered care and the development of medical decision-making skills required for osteopathic physicians, including preventive medicine, social determinants of wellness, osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM), and much more.

  • Mind and Medicine Course Series: Developed in collaboration with our Psychology program faculty, Mind and Medicine courses focus on the integration of mental and physical health, addressing topics like behavioral influences on chronic illness, mental health screening in primary care settings, and beyond.
  • Clinical Rotations Nationwide: Bolstered by The Chicago School’s extensive network of educational, professional, and community connections, you can complete clinical rotations in major metro areas around the country, including Chicago, Southern California, Dallas, and Washington, D.C.
  • Modern Medical Technology: Our state-of-the-art campus is fully equipped with the medical and educational resources and technology needed to transform students into practice-ready physicians.  
  • Licensure Exam Preparation: Receive built-in support throughout your education to prepare for the COMLEX-USA and the USMLE if you choose to take it.
