MORE ABOUT
Our New Orleans Location
Xavier University in New Orleans hosts The Chicago School program on its outstanding New Orleans Campus, and provides all classrooms, program offices, and other support services, including library services and most services the school offers its own students. All students in the program will also have full access to The Chicago School’s online library and student services, such as financial aid, careers services, etc.
The program prepares graduates to sit for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology administered by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards as required by the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and meets all other programmatic eligibility requirements for licensure in the State of Louisiana and most other states.
A unique feature of this program is the Research Clerkship model through which students are paired with core faculty to receive mentorship in research and scholarship, and obtain important support and preparation for their dissertation. All students complete three years of practicum experiences, allowing them to be well prepared for internship placement.
The program is Accredited, on Contingency by the American Psychological Association (APA). This status, available to new doctoral programs, is effective beginning July 21, 2019. In the fall of 2022, APA’s Commission on Accreditation (COA) will review outcome data for students in the program and program graduates via a self-study and site visit, after which the program will be reviewed for full accreditation status.
Questions related to the program’s accredited status should be directed to the Commission on Accreditation:
