Since becoming a part of The Chicago School in 2008, the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education has provided opportunities for students to expand awareness, promote mental wellness, and work to end stigma. Through fellowships, federal work study positions, and volunteer opportunities, students gain direct experience in the community and the field of psychology.
“I chose to be an NRCI fellow because the program offers opportunities to engage in program development, mental health education, and community outreach,” says Rebecca Skinner, a student in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program. “It continues to be a rewarding way to advance my learning through additional research and training while also applying the skills I have gained at The Chicago School.”
Current work-study student Colleen Quigley agrees. “I have learned so much that I can bring to my personal and professional life. Being a part of the planning and facilitation of the 20th annual conference made it even more clear how important and impactful the institute’s vision truly is.”
