Biography
Dr. Alayna Berkowitz (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and under PSYPACT. Dr. Berkowitz has served as adjunct faculty at The Chicago School since 2022. She received her Ph.D. from Lehigh University in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Berkowitz completed an APA-accredited internship in health service psychology at University of Maryland College Park, Counseling Center and her post doctoral fellowship at University of Delaware, Center for Student Development. Dr. Berkowitz has a private practice in Bethesda, MD working with adults in areas specific to mood concerns, relationship issues, and life transitions. Dr. Berkowitz predominantly works from a culturally informed interpersonal psychodynamic orientation.
Prior to private practice, Dr. Berkowitz worked in varies settings, including counseling centers with a specialty in training and supervision across developmental levels as well as outreach and consultation. Dr. Berkowitz has worked in higher education administration in an outreach and mental health promotion role. Dr. Berkowitz currently serves as the chair of the Maryland Psychological Association (MPA)'s Early Career Psychologists committee. Most recently, she completed the MPA Leadership and Development Fellowship. Dr. Berkowitz is presently a fellow at the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.
