Biography
Dr. Alex Snead, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist whose work integrates clinical practice, research, and teaching across a range of mental health and behavioral health domains. Dr. Snead earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston's APA-accredited program, where her research focused on risk factors associated with alcohol use and intimate partner violence. She also holds an M.A. in Psychology from the University of Houston, an M.A. in Psychology from The Citadel, and a B.S. in Business Management with a minor in Psychology from Virginia Tech.
Dr. Snead completed her predoctoral internship at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she received intensive training in evidence-based trauma treatments, including Prolonged Exposure for PTSD. During her internship year, she provided therapy for clinical trials, conducted suicide risk assessments, and delivered specialized care for children with tics and Tourette's Disorder, adults with insomnia and nightmares, and young children with externalizing disorders through Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Her earlier clinical training included extensive assessment and psychotherapy experience with children, adolescents, adults, and couples in outpatient clinics, integrated healthcare settings, and academic training centers. Dr. Snead is the owner of small private practice, where she works with children, adolescents, and adults using evidence-based treatments for anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
