- Biography- Dr. Andrew Cassens is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Michigan. Dr. Cassens joined the Department of Forensic Psychology in 2008 as an adjunct instructor, and has been a full-time faculty member since June 2010. Dr. Cassens completed his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in September 2009. He holds a Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology and Clinical Psychology, both completed at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Federal Medical Center (Federal Bureau of Prisons) in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Cassens has completed forensic training rotations within a broad spectrum of settings including, correctional facilities; state mental health treatment centers; and county court/probation departments. Dr. Cassens is currently a staff psychologist at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Michigan. More specifically, Dr. Cassens specializes in the assessment and treatment of PTSD and co-occurring Substance Use Disorders. Dr. Cassens is trained in evidence based psychotherapies, including Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. In August 2012, Dr. Cassens graduated from a national leadership development program facilitated by the Veterans Health Administration.
