Biography

Dr. Risser is a clinical neuropsychologist. His mentors during his doctoral and post-doctoral training were Drs. Otfried Spreen, Louis Costa, Esther Strauss, Kerry DeS. Hamsher, and Charles Cleeland.

He specializes in diagnostic neuropsychological assessment issues and concepts (Bentonian). He has additional specific interests in clinical psychopharmacology, the pharmaceutical clinical trials process and related FDA issues, teaching neuroscience and psychopharmacology. As an adjunct, he teaches here at The Chicago School in the PsyD Clinical Psychology programs at the Chicago Campus, the Washington, DC campus, and the Dallas campus and in the online MSc/MA Clinical Psychopharmacology programs. As an adjunct, he also teaches psychopharmacology at Adler University in their PsyD Clinical Psychology program and statistics for Adler University's online MA/PhD programs in I/O Psychology and Organizational Leadership.

In the past he also has taught for the University of Liverpool's (UK) global online program in Applied Psychology, as a Visiting Associate Professor at Winona State University, and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Houston's PhD program in Clinical Psychology.

Research interests include aphasia, fatigue, and the development of tests that employ poetry interpretation as a representation of highly abstract and rules-free language functioning.

Professional interests include scientific consultation in the clinical trial process for CNS/Neurology and CNS/Psychiatry investigational drugs.
