Biography

Dr. Toubia is a professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy departments in Los Angeles. He graduated from the California School of Professional Psychology, where he earned his PsyD in Psychology with an emphasis in Couples and Family Therapy. He has earned multiple honors both locally and nationally as a clinician and has worked in the field of addiction treatment and recovery for over 9 years. In 2016, Dr. Toubia was a recipient of the SAMHSA Minority Fellowship where he produced research on the efficacy of substance use treatment on minority populations.

While completing his studies, Dr. Toubia worked with an array of clients, from youth to older adults across both public and private settings. Currently he works with individuals and couples, and is an LGBT+, Queer, and Poly/Kink affirmative therapist with extensive expertise working with minority clients. He additionally focuses, his clinical work on the treatment of co-occurring psychiatric and addictive disorders, facilitating groups focused on helping clients develop solid foundations to sustain their recovery. In Private practice Dr. Toubia provides acute crisis management and intervention services all over the United States as well as post- recovery coaching designed to develop life beyond substance recovery for his clients and their families.

Dr. Toubia's research interests focus on growing the body of literature on gay relationships, exploring nontraditional union formation patterns among gay men. Dr. Toubia has taught as an adjunct professor throughout southern California and is excited to bring his expertise to the TCS team at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles Campus.
