Biography

Dr. Bina Parekh received her M.A. in Community Psychology at New York University and completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and minor emphasis in Biostatistics at Loma Linda University. She served as the Associate Department Chair of the Clinical Psy.D program at the American School of Professional Psychology for 13 years.

Currently, she is the Associate Department Chair and Full Professor in the Clinical Psychology program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP), Anaheim. Dr. Parekh completed a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente in Milpitas, California specializing in general psychiatry, behavioral medicine, trauma, and chemical dependency. She has served as a project coordinator for several large grants at the Behavioral Health Institute at San Diego State University (SDSU) and acted as a clinical supervisor in the joint doctoral program between SDSU and U.C. San Diego. She has published several peer-reviewed papers in the areas of cross-cultural psychology and behavioral health. Dr. Parekh has worked as a pain psychologist within a multidisciplinary treatment team in the Chronic Pain Program at Kaiser Permanente, Orange. Her clinical focus includes pain management, obesity treatment, biofeedback, trauma, couples counseling, addiction medicine, general psychiatry, and multicultural counseling. Currently, Dr. Parekh is a licensed psychologist and has a private practice specializing in health psychology. Dr. Parekh teaches courses in the areas of research methods, statistics, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychometric theory, diversity, and health psychology.
