Biography
Bob O'Neal is a human resources professional with over 30 years of experience working in Fortune 500 companies including AT&T, Sears Roebuck & Company, OfficeMax, Inc. and Walgreens & Co. Bob earned both an MBA and a MEd degree from the University of Florida and a PhD in Organizational Development from Benedictine University. His research focus is the connection between values, individual and group behavior and performance in corporate America. Bob joined The Chicago School as an assistant Professor in the Organizational Leadership area in 2011. He has delivered Master's and PhD level courses during his tenure including; Human Resources Management & Strategy, Organizational Behavior & Leadership, Business & Financial Acumen, Corporate Culture Assessment & Change, and Qualitative Research Methods. He has also been active in the Academy of Management serving as a reviewer and a board member Of the Organization Development & Change (ODC) division.
While at AT&T, he supported the company's core communication business and then transferred to the Universal Card Services unit, participating in the launch of the company's credit card business. This business won the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award in 1991 and Bob launched the corporate university that was instrumental in supporting the company's quality program. Bob joined Sears in 1996, to head up the HR Planning function for the Sears Credit Card Business. In that assignment, he led the successful reorganization of the 15,000 person Credit call center operation, and led the effort to redesign the Credit collections process, resulting in collections performance gains of $200 million per year. Bob served as VP of Learning and Organization Development at OfficeMax, where he led a major culture effort as part of the company's merger which included the development and rollout of values-based performance management and succession planning systems at the firm.
