Biography
Catherine "Katie" Baxtrom, DO, is an ABEM board-certified emergency physician with more than 15 years of experience in high-acuity, high-volume emergency medicine. She is an Assistant Professor and founding Section Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she also directs the Professionalism in Medicine course and serves as Emergency Medicine Clerkship Director.
Dr. Baxtrom earned her medical degree from Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her emergency medicine residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where she trained in one of the nation's busiest emergency departments. She is currently pursuing her MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Her professional interests include healthcare business and leadership, sepsis quality metrics, and physician well-being and mental health.
