Biography
Dr. Christopher Chaffin has been teaching at the Chicago School since 2016, first as an adjunct in Los Angeles then as core faculty in Anaheim since 2023, and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. He now serves as Program Chair for the Anaheim location. He has had a private practice in Long Beach since 2019, following six years in community mental health and inpatient acute and dual diagnosis care. He completed his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, Marital and Family Therapy Specialization and his Doctor of Psychology in Marital and Family Therapy at the Chicago School's Los Angeles campus, giving him an intimate understanding of the experience of being a Chicago School professor and a Chicago School student. He has taught a wide variety of courses in the MA and PsyD programs for the MFT department over the years and has worked with a wide variety of intersecting demographics in his journey as a clinical professional. Dr. Chaffin firmly believes in the responsibility of an educating institution not only to its students but to the future patients those students will treat, which is why he endeavors to provide students with access to his personal, professional, and academic experiences in context of their learning. Personally, Dr. Chaffin is half-Persian, an existentialist, a reader, and a nerd, geek, and dork (who can identify the differences in those three terms) who just wants to watch the world learn.
