Biography

Greeting students and faculty, my name is Dr. Dana

Laughlin, MA, NCC, LCPC. I am a licensed professional

counselor who has worked in the mental health field

for over fifteen years. I started in this field due to my

compassion and commitment to help people. I have

a great zeal for life and think that we should all be

living life authentically! My philosophy towards

mental health centers on my trust and belief in the

human spirit. My dedication to clients finding their

truth is unparallel. I wholeheartedly believe that each

client should be cared for, listened to, supported, and

feel important throughout counsel.

I started teaching in 2016 at Argosy University. I taught a

variety of classes including but not limited to Professional

Counseling and Ethics, Community Mental Health, and

Group Counseling. I joined The Chicago School of

Professional Psychology in the Fall 2021. My teaching

philosophy centers around the students with whom I have

the pleasure to interact and educate. Students come to

my classroom with individual and diverse experiences,

beliefs, and goals that inform their interactions with

clients, peers, instructors, and the body of knowledge. My

goal is to create and maintain an active learning

environment that encourages exploration, evaluation,

understanding, application, and synthesis of the material

presented. Further, I expect and demonstrate ethical

behavior, authenticity, and accountability in all

professional and personal interactions. I seek that all

students will come to class prepared to engage in and be

transformed by their learning
