Biography
Dayna Harris, Ed.D, has a diverse and rich career background. She began her career in human resources management where she gained experience in the development and management of human resources functions. She garnered success with major projects in Family Medical Leave of absence compliance, quality orientation, training, employee engagement, aligning internal organization processes, and facilitating cooperative relationships among employees and senior management. As her career progressed, she began introducing servant leadership principles to executive leaders of varying industries.
After 15 years in the human resources field, she transitioned to academia where she served as a faculty member, faculty trainer and department chair. She has extensive knowledge and experience working with the adult returning student population. For over a decade, Dr. Harris has worked to develop courses and teams to support the marginalized population of adult learners. She is well-versed in delivering instruction in both online and campus modalities. Her skills include examining curriculum, promoting academic discipline and quality, writing faculty guidelines, curriculum mapping for accreditation, as well as, developing, communicating and executing department goals. Additionally, she is a nationally certified school psychologist who holds licensure in multiple states.
She joined the The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2015 as a subject matter expert and adjunct faculty member in the BA Psychology Department. During her time, she served on and continues to serve on the university adjunct advisory board and the council for undergraduate education, respectively. Her passion for helping students reach beyond their preconceived limitations is evident in her teaching and leadership styles. Dr. Harris teaches, lectures and serves on numerous non-profit community-based platforms sharing up-lifting messages with principles to positively impact all areas of adult students' lives and relationships.
Dr. Harris' research interests include adult social emotional development, employee engagement, adult academic performance, and social justice within academia.
