Biography

Dr. Lopez attended Occidental College for undergrad. He obtained his graduate degrees from Pepperdine University. He holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology & completed a post-doctorate fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology with specialties in pediatric, adult, cross-cultural, and health-related issues at UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital.

After his training, he worked at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center at their HIV Mental Health Services. Currently, he holds privileges at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience and conducted research as a Senior Research Neuropsychologist on HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorders among minority populations. He was the Head of the Psychology Section representing the Departments of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences, Rehabilitation Medicine, Pain Center, & Neurosurgery.

Dr. Lopez goal is to critically collaborate with others to address the complex challenges currently faced by marginalized individuals regarding health issues from a psychological and neuropsychological perspective, especially LGBTQ+ and People of Color. Dr. Lopez is openly gay & a native of Zacatecas, Mexico
