Biography

Dr. Ileana Torres is the Senior Applied Research Project Instructor in the MAP Online Program. She joined The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2009. She earned a B.A. in Applied Psychology at the University of Illinois, an M.A. in Community Counseling and Human Services from Roosevelt University, and an Ed.D. In Educational Psychology and Technology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Before joining TCSPP, Ileana was coordinating a family literacy program that served adults and children in the community. She also taught English as a Second Language for adults at Moraine Valley Community College. As a counselor, Ileana provided mental health services to diverse populations including individuals, couples, and families. Her experiences also include working with children and families to enhance growth and development in the areas of education, health, nutrition, and social services for a CEDA Head Start program. Overall, her background in program evaluation, grant writing, and the development of trainings and workshops on topics such as child development, parenting, community resources, and language acquisition are what have provided her with knowledge and experience that she brings to her role as Senior ARP Instructor.

Currently, she teaches all of the Applied Research courses in MAP and also adjuncts other courses throughout the program.

Her research interests are focused on online learning, the integration of technology in various educational settings, and the role of emotion and motivation in online learning.
