Biography

Dr. James Chastain was first introduced to Behavior Analysis in 2007, during his final two years of undergraduate studies at University of Florida, Gainesville. During this time he had the opportunity to participate in multiple behavior-analytic courses and both basic experimental and applied research labs, cementing a love for the field of study and applied practice. Dr. Chastain earned his Master of Arts in Human Services Psychology, with a focus in Applied Behavior Analysis, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, while also working at an in-patient hospital for children with development disabilities and behavior disorders. Dr. Chastain completed his PhD in Behavior Analysis at Florida Institute of technology, with a focus on translational research in Behavioral Economics.

Dr. Chastain's applied work has focused primarily on developing and supervising ABA-based treatments for children and adolescents with disabilities; and training behavior technicians and aspiring behavior analysts. This has included work in the assessment and treatment of severe behaviors; as well as early intervention, behavior acquisition, and development of verbal behavior skills. Dr. Chastain's primary research interests include the further study of alternative reinforcement paradigms, including behavioral economic models and quantitative models of behavior.
