Biography

Dr. James Dale Colquitt, Jr. serves as Associate Dean for Research and Clinical Simulation and Associate Professor at Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine at The Chicago School. With over two decades of experience bridging clinical practice and medical education, Dr. Colquitt brings a unique perspective as both a practicing respiratory therapist and accomplished academic leader. He has held senior administrative positions at multiple medical schools, including Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Mercer University School of Medicine and Assistant Dean for Simulation Technology at Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he pioneered innovative simulation-based curricula and competency-based education programs.

Dr. Colquitt's research focuses on medical simulation, gamification in healthcare education, and mastery learning approaches to clinical training. He has secured over $620,000 in grant funding and published extensively on simulation-based education and patient safety initiatives. As a Senior Educator with the American College of Surgeons and Board Secretary for the North American Simulation and Gaming Association, he contributes to national education standards and policy development. Currently pursuing fellowships with both the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Senior Leadership Development Program and WASC's Accreditation Leadership Academy, Dr. Colquitt remains committed to advancing medical education through innovative technology integration and evidence-based teaching methodologies that prepare future physicians for rural and underserved communities.
