Biography

Jeff Strozier, PhD, LCPC (he/him/they/them) is Interim Department Chair and Director of Clinical Training for the Counselor Education Department at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP) in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Strozier earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from The University of New Orleans and MA in Clinical Professional Psychology from Roosevelt University.

Dr. Strozier has over fifteen years of experience within the counseling profession. Prior to joining TCSPP he was Director of the Anti-Violence Project at Center on Halsted, the largest LGBTQ community center in the Midwest. There he led a team providing trauma focused mental health services to LGBTQ survivors of violence (intimate partner violence). Dr. Strozier also spent time at Thresholds where he provided community-based counseling services and developed expertise in working with individuals living with serious and persistent mental illness. As part of his doctoral training at The University of New Orleans, Dr. Strozier worked with Addiction Recovery Resources of New Orleans where he provided individual and group counseling to clients with substance use disorder within an intensive outpatient setting.

Dr. Strozier's professional areas of interests include topics related to stigma, cultivation of empathy, serious and persistent mental illness, and human sexuality. He has presented at conferences and developed various trainings related to human sexuality, including a presentation at the American Counseling Association Conference on LGBTQ Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence being at the. Dr. Strozier is also a member of the Association of Counseling Sexology & Sexual Wellness where he co-chairs the Social Justice and Advocacy Committee and serves as contributing editor for the association newsletter.

Dr. Strozier is a native Louisianian and has called Chicago home for over 10 years. For fun Dr. Strozier enjoys spending time by the lake, watching live music, visiting museums, and rooting for the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
