Biography

I am currently an Assistant Professor for the Counseling Education Division - Online. My educational background includes an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a PhD in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior, and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in South Carolina, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, a National Certified Counselor, and a Board Certified-TeleMental Health counselor with approximately 15 of experience working in the mental health field as both a clinician and an educator.

As an instructor, I began teaching online as part of my field experience in my CES program, and I now teach broadly across the counseling curriculum and in other related disciplines including psychiatric nursing and counseling psychology. My clinical experience began working in community mental health agencies before transitioning into private practice. My clinical practice specialties include mood disorders, personality disorders, dual diagnoses, grief, wellness, and relationships. I have experience working with clients across the lifespan but primarily work with young adults. I also provide clinical supervision to a limited number of counselors-in-training. My research interests include graduate/doctoral student learning experiences and mental health, interpersonal relationships, and financial wellness.
