Biography
Dr. Jessica Rosenfeld earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and holds a Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver, Graduate School of Professional Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of San Francisco, Counseling and Psychological Services (USF CAPS). She is a licensed psychologist (California and Hawai'i) and member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. In addition to her faculty position with The Chicago School, she owns a private practice serving clients in both California and Hawai'i.
Her professional experiences include integrated care in primary medical settings, college counseling, psychodiagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, and teaching. Her clinical interests include neurodiverse adults, diagnostic assessment, and integrated care. Her theoretical orientation is integrated, with emphasis on relational and cognitive-behavioral models. In assessments, she assumes a Therapeutic Assessment approach, emphasizing self-insight as a mechanism for growth and change. She is interested in exploring applications of the arts and pop culture to the treatment of mental disorders, as well as increasing awareness and public understanding of mental health. She believes that education is a form of healing and health, and integrates it into her clinical and professional work outside of teaching.
She is often involved in volunteer program development. She assisted in creating a 24-hour Zoom support room in the wake of the Maui Lāhainā fires in 2023, with the Hawai'i Behavioral Health Connection. She is currently working with the Jewish Community Mental Health Initiative at the American Psychological Foundation to assist in organizing a national network of mental health support groups for Jewish adults.
