Biography

Dr. Justin W. Andersen is a faculty member in the Department of Clinical Forensic Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a Health Psychology emphasis from an APA-accredited program. Dr. Andersen brings extensive experience in higher education, having taught courses on mental health law, psychological interviewing, assessment and treatment planning, substance-related disorders, family violence, psychopharmacology, human sexuality, and trauma interventions. His teaching philosophy emphasizes inclusivity, cultural responsiveness, and the practical application of psychological principles to prepare students for professional roles in diverse settings.

Previously, Dr. Andersen led a community-based mental health organization, overseeing the delivery of comprehensive mental health services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness who are experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, and transitions from crisis stabilization or incarceration. As a first-generation college graduate, Dr. Andersen is especially passionate about helping students navigate the challenges of graduate school and supporting their personal and professional growth. He is deeply committed to mentoring psychology students through their training and development. Dr. Andersen's research focuses on the intersection of mental health treatment and behavioral outcomes in crisis settings, contributing valuable insights to professional forums and clinical practice.
