Biography
Hello,
I have thrilled to be teaching at the CSPP and have thoroughy enjoyed by years as an adjunct faculty. By training, I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in forensics. My professional work experience includes adjunct faculty positions teaching graduate level forensic psychology, work in a psychiatric hospital on the Forensic unit where my case load consisted of individuals who had been adjudicated-Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, work in both local jails and Federal Prison, and at the Bureau of Prison's -Central Office in Washington, DC. , and public service positions in local county governments.
Currently, I work for Prince William County-Community Services (Board) as the Acting Division Manager over our agency's community based programs including Psychosocial Rehab, PATH, Supported Living Services, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, Get on Track (which is a first-episode psychosis program for young folks age 16-25 years; and the Forensic Services Program-a program that I helped to create and develop within our agency. As an independent forensic evaluator for the state of Virginia, I conduct court ordered Competency to Stand Trial (CST) and Mental Status at the Time of Offense (MSO) evaluations on adults and Juvenile Competency to Stand Trial evaluations Sexual Abnormality evaluations, and provide expert court testimony. I am also trained to conduct Mitigation Reviews in Capital Cases. Several years ago, I was appointed by the Commissioner of our state behavioral health department, to assist with the forensic evaluation oversight committee. We are tasked with reviewing all the forensic evaluations submitted within the state (by licensed psychologists) to ensure they meet minimum standards. In addition to this work experience, throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of forensically related positions to include positions as a Juvenile Competency Restoration Counselor, providing competency restoration services to juveniles who were deemed incompetent to stand trial. In recent years, I became a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional-Level II (CCTP-II).
I have found that my professional experience spanning two + decades, aligns very nicely with the courses I teach here at the CSPP. I enjoy sharing my real-world, practical experiences as students and I navigate our way through each discussion, module, and unit.
On a personal note, as much as I enjoy my past and current positions providing clinical/forensic treatment, my number one passion is spending time with my 14-year-old twin boys, and my husband of 27 years. I also enjoy traveling, swimming, hiking, bicycling, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, and going to the movies.
