Biography
Dr. Keiana Winters is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with expertise in counseling adults, adolescents, families, and couples. She has worked with dual diagnosis, trauma, process addictions, and substance use disorders. Dr. Winters has dedicated the last 13 years to working with a variety of populations, including veterans, professional cultures, and other practicing psychotherapists. Her work has focused on mentoring and fostering growth and independence in adults and adolescents and gender and ethnic identity. Dr. Winters is currently a certified clinical supervisor, trauma specialist, and diversity, equity, and inclusion professional.
Dr. Keiana Winters received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Western Illinois University, her master's degree in Counseling from Saint Xavier University, and obtained her Ph.D. from Capella University in Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Winters is an integrated counselor who believes that anyone can become actualized. Dr. Winters believes that counseling can be intrinsic to the growth and development of each person. She utilizes developmental supervision to meet the needs of each student.
As a counselor, Dr. Winters works with individuals as well as groups for a multitude of concerns, including depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, trauma, and compulsions. She currently holds a certification in Diversity Equity and Inclusion, as a level two trauma professional and a certified Counseling supervisor. As a researcher, Dr. Keiana Winters has focused her research efforts on the mental health of active duty service members, the veteran population, as well as multiculturalism and adolescent development. Dr. Winters' published dissertation project investigated the predictive relationship between racial identity, military identity, and post-deployment reintegration in post-911 veterans. Her previous presentation subjects have included dual diagnosis work with veterans, Cultural Intelligence, the use of RODBT with the African American community, and cultural implications of working with disordered eating.
