Lisa Fuller

Dr. Fuller was appointed Associate Professor for Bioethics at IllinoisCOM in December 2025. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Albany and subsequently at Merrimack College in Andover, MA. She earned her doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Toronto in 2006.

Her areas of expertise are professional and healthcare ethics, political philosophy and philosophy of law. She has collaborated with various organizations on issues of ethics and policy outside of academia including Doctors Without Borders, the American Medical Association and the National Judicial College. She has published in journals including the Journal of Moral Philosophy, Ethical Theory and Moral Practice and the American Journal of Bioethics. Her current research interests center on the phenomenon of epistemic injustice as experienced by people with chronic illness, priority-setting in healthcare, and issues relating to gender disparities in medicine.

Dr. Fuller is happy to mentor students in any area of bioethics research and to act as a faculty advisor for a student club focusing on medical humanities, broadly construed.
