Biography
Dr. Lynessa M. Rico is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of the Business Psychology Department at The Chicago School. In addition, she is a results-driven Strategic Consultant with over 25 years of experience enabling leaders to meet strategic business objectives by identifying and aligning business growth opportunities with their strategic direction. Lynessa leads workshops focused on the creative mindset, women's entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, and the value and application of design thinking within entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Her services also include consulting with and educating leadership on the creative mindset, emotional intelligence, the power of design thinking, and leadership styles to support inclusive, creative workplaces. She has presented to leadership and innovation teams in small, mid-size, and Fortune 500 companies, including Victoria Secret and Arc Worldwide.
Lynessa is also a Board Member of The Chicago Cultural Alliance and PAWS Chicago and a mentor at 1871 and P33.

Please describe your teaching philosophy. I believe all students are unique and should have a stimulating, caring, safe learning environment to share their ideas, take risks, and build their curiosity.
Why did you choose to enter the field of psychology? I have always viewed organizations as living, breathing organisms. In order for me to make a larger impact with my work, I needed to understand the nature of psychology within an organization to help influence behavior in a positive way to assist these organizations in growing and creating more jobs.
