Biography

Dr. Mariam Sheibani serves as Associate Faculty Member in the Applied Clinical Psychology Program at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP) since 2019. At TCSPP, Dr. Sheibani regularly teaches, Child and Adolescent Psychology, Play Therapy Electives, Advanced Psychodynamic Interventions and the Practicum courses. Prior to working as faculty at TCSPP, Dr. Sheibani worked as Department Chair of Counseling Psychology at Argosy University from 2015-2019. She served as Director of Training in the Counseling Psychology program at Argosy University from 2008-20015. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and her Master Degree from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology. Dr. Sheibani is a licensed Clinical Psychologist whom has a Private Practice in Newport Beach, CA. She works with adults, children, families and couples in her private practice. Dr. Sheibani specializes in children (0-12) who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression because of parental separation and or divorce. Dr. Sheibani was also employed as a staff Psychologist at Western Youth Services in Anaheim, CA, working with infants, children and adolescents with a multitude of behavioral and learning issues as well as clients that struggle with psychotic symptoms. She completed her Pre Doctoral clinical internship and Post Doctoral Internship at the Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills, CA, working with adults, families and children in long term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Dr. Sheibani's doctoral dissertation entitled The Effects of Acculturation in Persian Women focused primarily on symptoms of depression and anxiety in the acculturation process for Persian women. She is a member of various associations including the American Psychological Association, Iranian American Psychological Association, Association of Play Therapists, and the Orange County Psychological Association. Her clinical theoretical orientation is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. She has held a teaching position at Argosy University from 2007-2019 as well as taught for three years at the California School of Professional Psychology/Alliant International University in Los Angeles, CA.
