Biography

Mary Evans, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the BA Criminology program at The Chicago School (remote). She earned her B.S. in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Northern Arizona University in 2003, followed by her M.A. and Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Nebraska - Omaha in 2007 and 2012, respectively.

Prior to joining The Chicago School, Dr. Evans taught at the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Northern Colorado. Her research expertise centers on sex offenders and sex crimes, as well as juvenile delinquency. Her work has been published in journals including Justice Quarterly, Deviant Behavior, Behavioral Sciences and the Law, Journal of Developmental and Life-course Criminology, Journal of Criminal Justice Policy Review, and the Journal of Youth and Adolescence.

Dr. Evans brings a wealth of practical experience, having previously served in roles at the Coconino Country Attorney's Office within their Trial Support Unit and at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in both the Child and Adult Protective Services units. Dr. Evans is a member of the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
