Biography
Michael Barr an industrial/organizational psychologist specializing in leadership and motivation. He joined The Chicago School 2001 as program faculty in the IO Program, and as director of the school's Consulting Center. He has coached many high-potential leaders at all levels of responsibility, from entry level professionals to senior executives. Additionally, he has extensive experience in organizational assessment and selection test development. Currently, he is on a research team at Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
Dr. Barr's professional interests and expertise cover a wide variety of workplace issues including job satisfaction, employee motivation and loyalty, leadership development, stress, trends, team building, 360 feedback, and work/life balance.
Prior to joining The Chicago School, he completed postdoctoral work as an organizational psychologist at the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at the University of Chicago. My consulting career began as an associate consultant with the Organizational Capability Group at BP Amoco, and continues now in his private practice. Dr. Barr earned both his doctoral and Master's degrees Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Question and Answer
Why did you choose to enter the field of psychology? My undergraduate advisor involved me in many applied projects which got me involved in the field while I was selecting graduate school programs.
What advice would you give to a student entering The Chicago School? Learn time management, pace yourself, and work on as many projects as you can outside of class.
