Biography
Dr. Michelle Colarusso earned her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Waynesburg University. She has extensive experience working in community mental health and residential settings, supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use concerns. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Colarusso maintains a private practice specializing in LGBTQ+ individuals and couples.
Dr. Colarusso is also passionate about clinical supervision and provides guidance to counselors working toward licensure. She facilitates trainings on topics including remediation and gatekeeping, supervision, LGBTQ+ issues, suicide risk assessment, and trauma-informed care. She has been a faculty member in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling online department at The Chicago School since November 2020.
