Biography

Nancy J. Bothne is a professor in the clinical PsyD program of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Before entering the academic world, Nancy worked in international human rights advocacy. Understanding how human rights abuses created community trauma motivates Nancy's research and teaching. Nancy teaches classes that examine refugee trauma, community psychology and community healing from human rights abuses. In addition, she teaches courses on qualitative research methods, social psychology and the history of psychology. Nancy's research examines how resiliency is experienced by refugees living in the U.S., and how communities influence both the experience of trauma and healing. She earned her PhD in community psychology from DePaul University.
