Biography
Dr. Rehfeldt received her PhD in Behavior Analysis from the University of Nevada in 1998. Ruth Anne's research and clinical interests focus primarily on empirical investigations of verbal behavior, ranging from the study of rudimentary language repertoires in people with severely limited language skills to the study of behavioral flexibility and experiential avoidance in more linguistically sophisticated individuals. She has worked clinically with children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders, and is particularly interested in using Acceptance and Commitment Training to increase compassionate care among those working with individuals with severe developmental disorders. Ruth Anne served as Editor of The Psychological Record for 12 years, and has held a number of leadership opportunities through the Association for Behavior Analysis International, by whom she was recently awarded Fellow status. Ruth Anne has over 100 articles and book chapters in the area of behavioral interventions for persons with developmental disorders, and has co-edited two textbooks.
