Biography

Sarah Burnette, LCSW, MASJ, specializes in trauma-informed psychodynamic therapy and clinical ethics around work with marginalized populations. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker receiving her MSW and an MA in Social Justice from Loyola University of Chicago, where she focused on gender and medical ethics. She has additional training in feminist healthcare and completed a post-graduate fellowship focusing on depth psychotherapy with the LGBTQ, Kink, and CNM communities. Coming from a background in healthcare, Sarah has clinical experience on interdisciplinary teems working in abortion and reproductive health, hospital trauma and emergency care, and organ transplant. She is the founder of Xylem Psychotherapy, a Chicago-based private practice, where she provides therapy and clinical supervision from a psychodynamic and liberation psychology perspective. Sarah is passionate about mentoring students and clinicians who want to challenge the assumptions of psychology as a profession. Her clinical specialty, advocacy work, and recent publications focus on affirming care for sex workers.
