Biography
Dr. Tera Jones is a licensed psychologist and AASECT certified sex therapist that has been graduate and undergraduate faculty and in clinical practice for over 15 years. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Tennessee State University, her M.S. in Counseling from Shippensburg University, and her B.S. in Psychology from Penn State University. She completed her internship at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at the University of Pennsylvania and has received post-doc training and certifications in sex therapy (Florida Postgraduate Sex Therapy Training Institute), contemporary psychodynamic theory and practice (Center for the Study of Integrative Dynamic Psychotherapy and Clinical Program of Advanced Psychotherapy Practice-Washington School of Psychiatry), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).
Her clinical and research focus consists of sociocultural influences on body image and disordered eating, attachment injuries and relationship healing, and various aspects of sexuality from a sex positive and multicultural framework. More recently, Dr. Jones has studied clinical supervision informed by relational cultural theory, attachment theory, and the integrated development model.
