Biography
Val Bellman, MD, PsyD is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Clinical Psychopharmacology Department at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Bellman is a board-certified psychiatrist with over a decade of clinical experience in general psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and integrative mental health care.
Dr. Bellman earned his medical degree from I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University in Moscow, Russian Federation-one of the world's oldest and most prestigious medical institutions-bringing a rich international perspective to psychiatric practice. Following his medical training, he completed a postgraduate diploma in clinical psychiatry from the University of South Wales (UK) and subsequently earned both an MPH from Columbia Southern University and a PsyD from CalSouthern University. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, where he was recognized as Best Resident Teacher and received the Scholar of the Year Award.
Dr. Bellman is trained and certified in advanced psychiatric interventions including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and S-ketamine therapy. His clinical interests span psychosomatic medicine, palliative psychiatry, medical psychology, and the intersection of organizational and occupational health with mental health. With a strong commitment to scholarly activity, Dr. Bellman has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and presented his research at major psychiatric conferences including the American Psychiatric Association, World Psychiatric Association, and the European Congress of Psychiatry. In his teaching, Dr. Bellman emphasizes the integration of pharmacological treatment with deeper therapeutic understanding, preparing students to address the complex connections between mind and body while developing compassionate, whole-person approaches to patient care
