Question and Answer
Please describe your teaching philosophy.

I believe that learning is a collaborative process where students may find who they are personally and professionally through a respectful and safe environment. therefore, I focus on providing this environment and establishing a collaborative relationship with you characteristic of dialogical understanding. I also believe in student's ability to know what is best for them, most motivating to to them, and most important in their future careers as counselors. With this in mind, I strive to challenge their own discovery through a collaborative and a supportive relationship.

Please provide a statement or philosophy regarding the practice of psychology.

My philosophy of counseling is based on the believe that the power for change is within an individual and his/her relationships with others through genuine dialogue where allow him/her to truly understand his/her own unique experience through sharing, curiosity and learning. I work from a story telling framework focused on the formation of client's experience that helps to enhance his/her awareness of its process. Through a collaborative relationship, we will construct new meaning to form new choices in life that was not accessible before based on individual strengths, resilience and resources.

Why did you choose to enter the field of psychology?

I enter the field of Psychology/Mental health, because it is a passion of mine to understand human behavior. In addition, through my service to the community as a clinician, I am able to support, advocate, and stand up for marginalized individuals who are "silenced" because of social stigmas/bias/stereotypes.

What advice would you give to a student entering The Chicago School?

One advice I would give to a student entering the Chicago School is that life is a journey and enjoying the process. When you feel you are challenged, it is the exact time where you are learning something new.
