Biography

Dr. MacMillin has been on faculty with the clinical psychology PsyD program since 2011. He was the director of the on-campus training clinic for the first 8 years he was on faculty, and also directed an APPIC member internship program for 5 years. He teaches courses in the areas of psychotherapy and diagnostic seminar, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, adult psychopathology and intervention practices. Dr. MacMillin's research interests are in the areas of attachment theory, ACES (adverse childhood experiences), personality formation, forgiveness, grieving and the interface of spirituality and clinical psychology.

Dr. MacMillin regularly participates in speaking engagements, which sometimes include continuing education courses. He typically speaks on topics such as ACES, attachment theory, psychoanalytic practice, narrative formation, forgiveness and loss & grieving.

Dr. MacMillin is also in private practice in the Anaheim area. He specializes in working with adults in both individual and couples therapy. Dr. MacMillin's approach to therapy has been primarily influenced by psychoanalytic and attachment theory practices. Dr. MacMillin graduated from Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University, an APA accredited program. He completed an APA accredited internship at Capistrano by the Sea Hospital in Dana Point, CA.
