Biography

Dr. Cardon is the Department Chair of the MS Speech-Language Pathology program on the Dallas campus. She is a dually certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) with extensive training in communication disorders, early intervention, autism, interprofessional practice, and applied behavior analysis. Dr. Cardon's clinical experience has focused on supporting skill development in young children with varying disabilities through parent training and coaching; assessment and diagnostics; training and supervision of clinicians in both behavior analysis and speech-language pathology; and a telehealth consultation model for Grand Rounds.

In addition to her clinical experience as both an SLP and a BCBA-D, Dr. Cardon has developed practicum, undergraduate, and graduate courses in various departments at several universities. Dr. Cardon publishes actively across disciplines and has published more than 25 peer reviewed articles, books, and has presented more than 172 papers and posters at regional, national, and international conferences. Dr. Cardon has been awarded over $195,000 across eight granting opportunities and has fundraised over $9.5 million for program and research development. She has supervised 19 doctoral-level students as they have completed research projects, grant applications, dissertations, presentations, and publications. Her research interests include interprofessional education and practice, video modeling, autism in the media, and collaboration bias
