- Supervise medical students educated on the recently updated medical school competencies established by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), American Association of College of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Continuing Medical Education Credits
If you are a DO:
The precepting hours you dedicate to IllinoisCOM students meet the AOA Category 1-B credit requirements, which can be used for licensing purposes. A maximum of 60 AOA Category 1-B credits for precepting may be applied to the 120-hour, three-year requirement. You may self-report your continuing medical education activities through the AOA website.
If you are an MD:
The precepting hours you dedicate to IllinoisCOM students meet the requirements for AMA PRA Category 2 credit. IllinoisCOM will provide a letter at the end of each academic year with the information you need to submit your continuing medical education credit through the AMA Ed Hub portal.
