Welcome to ISPIC
Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium (ISPIC)

The Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium (ISPIC), now hosted by The Chicago School, offers doctoral internships across the state of Illinois. Partnering sites offer varying experiences and training opportunities in school districts, hospitals, residential treatment programs, and clinics in rural, suburban, and urban settings.
ISPIC seeks to prepare interns to be dually credentialed as both licensed clinical psychologists and credentialed school psychologists. As such, our training curriculum considers both the American Psychological Association’s Profession-Wide Competencies and the National Association of School Psychologist’s Practice Model’s Domains. All internships include at least two days/week in schools, and some offer training in other psychological settings as well. Interns have opportunities to engage in the broad range of clinical psychological and school psychological responsibilities.
ISPIC’s internship program is one full year (12 months and 2000 hours). Internship cohorts typically consist of approximately 20 interns. Though located throughout the state, interns have regular contact with each other through the ISPIC training curriculum.
Please visit our “How to Apply” page for more information on applying to ISPIC. Only applicants from school psychology doctoral programs will be considered. Applicants must participate in the APPIC Match through the National Matching Service.
The Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium was APA-accredited for 20 years before being “voluntarily withdrawn” from accreditation because we did not submit our self-study report on time. The self study has since been submitted and reviewed by the Commission on Accreditation, and we have been approved for our site visit in the spring of 2026. The quality and characteristics of the program as described here continues unchanged.
