How to Apply
ISPIC desires a diverse applicant pool, including, but not limited to, the following: age, disability, ethnicity, gender, language, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, and social economic status. Applicants must participate in the National Matching Service www.natmatch.com/psychint. ISPIC agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept or use any ranking-related information from any intern applicant.
If you would like to contact a current or former intern for a candid review of the program and its Diversity Plan, please e-mail [email protected]
A completed application includes:
- One on-line APPIC application, which can be accessed from www.appic.org (includes vita, graduate transcripts & letters of recommendation)
- One general cover letter should include a general introductory paragraph and a unique paragraph for each internship opportunity of interest to you. Please label each paragraph with the site name.
- 1-2 Pieces of your work to be uploaded as “supplemental materials” (e.g., an assessment report, a treatment summary, progress monitoring of an intervention, in-service handouts)
For additional information on the program and specifics for preparing your application, see the below document.
Please note: Successful matches must pass a criminal background check and some sites also require fingerprinting and drug screening. Please review individual site pages for further details.
Applications are due Friday, November 21, 2025.
To promote equity in the recruitment process for applicants, ISPIC will operate through a fully remote recruitment process. We will not offer any on-site interviews, tours, or informational meetings/visits. The ISPIC Training Director will communicate a full list of site interview offers by the first week of December via email. If interviews are accepted by applicants, sites will schedule and facilitate a remote interview. These interviews may begin as early as the first week of December and as late as the end of January. Interviews will be up to 45 minutes in length, likely facilitated through Zoom (though other technology or phone may be considered if Zoom cannot be used). Each site conducts one interview. The ISPIC website offers virtual tour slide presentations for each site. (Click through to the site-specific pages for links to these presentations.) The ISPIC Training Director will create an ISPIC overview presentation which will be emailed to all interviewees. An optional, open Q&A session with the Training Director will be held via Zoom on 1/9/2026 from 8:00am-10:00am (all times are CST). Also, current interns will be available for an optional, open Q&A Zoom session on 1/9/2026 from 10:00am-12:00pm to allow applicants to speak to interns from multiple sites – we will offer different Zoom links for each site. Links to the Q&A sessions will be emailed to interviewees.
The Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium (ISPIC) is sponsored by and largely funded by the four Illinois doctoral granting universities including Illinois State University, Loyola University at Chicago, Northern Illinois University and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Applicants for the consortium enrolled in these institutions will not be given preferential treatment by any of the partnering sites. Rather, all applications are judged based on their unique qualifications. Please see our Conflict of Interest Policy below.
