State Authorization Disclosure and Status

Below is a list of states in which The Chicago School is currently enrolling students in its distance education programs. Either The Chicago School has been granted state authorization to offer distance education programs to students residing in (located in) that state where required, or The Chicago School is not subject to state authorization to offer distance education programs, or has exemption. At the present time, The Chicago School is not authorized to provide distance education in any states that are omitted from this list, and therefore will not accept enrollment applications from prospective students residing in (located in) those omitted states until authorization is obtained.

NOTE: If a student relocates to a state in which The Chicago School is not authorized to provide distance education, continued enrollment and/or receipt of federal student aid funding, including federal loans and Pell Grants, cannot be guaranteed. Relocation to a state in which The Chicago School is not authorized to offer distance education may also impact a student’s loan repayment or deferment status and/or other benefits, such as veterans’ education benefits. Students enrolled in distance education programs are encouraged to contact the Registrar’s Office to discuss any change in their legal state of residence prior to relocation to determine the impact of the change.

Alabama

Alaska

The Chicago School is approved to offer certain distance education programs in Alaska by the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE). American Samoa

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the American Samoa Board of Higher Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in the American Samoa.

Arizona

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Arizona.

Arkansas

The Chicago School is certified by the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board to offer certain online programs to Arkansas residents.

Colorado

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Colorado.

California

The Chicago School is exempt from the state authorization requirements of the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education and is therefore permitted to offer its online programs to California residents.

Connecticut

Florida

Guam

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Guam Council on Post-Secondary Institution Certification and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Guam.

Hawaii

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Hawaii Postsecondary Education Authorization Program and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Hawaii.

Idaho

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Idaho State Board of Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Idaho.

Illinois

The Chicago School is approved to operate and grant degrees in the State of Illinois by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

Indiana

The Chicago School is authorized by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education to offer certain online programs to Indiana residents.

Kansas

The Chicago School is approved to offer certain distance education programs in Kansas by the Kansas Board of Regents. Kentucky

The Chicago School is licensed by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary to offer certain online programs to Kentucky residents.

Louisiana

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is currently licensed by the Board of Regents of the State of Louisiana. Licenses are renewed by the State Board of Regents every two years. Licensed institutions have met minimal operational standards set forth by the state, but licensure does not constitute accreditation, guarantee the transferability of credit, nor signify that programs are certifiable by any professional agency or organization.

Maine

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Maine Department of Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Maine.

Marshall Islands

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the College of Marshall Islands and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in the Marshall Islands.

Maryland

The Chicago School is authorized by the Maryland Commission of Higher Education to offer fully online programs to Maryland residents.

Massachusetts

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Massachusetts.

Michigan

The Chicago School is authorized by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to offer its online programs to Michigan residents.

Minnesota

Missouri

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Missouri with certain exceptions.

Montana

The Chicago School is authorized by the Board of Regents of the Montana University System to offer its online programs to Montana residents.

Nebraska

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Nebraska.

Nevada

The Chicago School has also been issued an Experiential License by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education to deliver accredited programs with fieldwork components per the current academic catalog to students who reside (are located) in Nevada with certain exceptions.

The Chicago School is also able to deliver distance education programs that do not contain a fieldwork component to students who reside (are located) in Nevada with certain exceptions.

New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Division of Educator Support and Higher Education – Higher Education Commission has granted administrative approval to The Chicago School to offer certain online degrees programs that require credit-bearing internships/practicums/clinicals to students residing in New Hampshire.

New Jersey

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the New Jersey Secretary of Higher Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in New Jersey.

New Mexico

The Chicago School has been deemed by the New Mexico Higher Education Department to meet the application standards for Distance Education Authorization pursuant to the Interstate Distance Education Act (Section 21-23B-1 et seq. NMSA 1978).

North Carolina

The Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina System has granted The Chicago School a license to offer certain online programs to North Carolina residents.

North Dakota

The Chicago School is authorized to operate in North Dakota by the North Dakota University System and the institution may offer certain online programs to students located in North Dakota.

Ohio

The Chicago School is authorized by the Ohio Department of Education to offer certain online programs to Ohio residents.

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Oklahoma.

Oregon

The Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner has approved The Chicago School as a Non-SARA institution to offer online programs to Rhode Island residents.

South Carolina

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the South Carolina Commission for Higher Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in South Carolina.

South Dakota

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the South Dakota Secretary of State – Postsecondary Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in South Dakota.

Tennessee

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Tennessee.

Texas

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB):

The Chicago School obtained authorization for an exemption by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to grant degrees for certain programs to students located in Texas.

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC):

The College of Nursing and Advanced Health Professions has a Certificate of Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to offer its Vocational Nursing program to students located in Texas. The TWC-assigned school number for the College of Nursing and Advanced Health Professions is: S 1030.

The College of Nursing and Advanced Health Profession’s programs are approved by TWC.

The degree programs at The Chicago School’s Dallas Campus are offered to students located in Texas under an exemption granted by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) as a private institution and is therefore permitted. The TWC-assigned school number for The Chicago School’s Dallas Campus is: E 5214.

Students must address their concerns about the College of Nursing and Advanced Health Professions and the degree programs at The Chicago School’s Dallas Campus by following the grievance process outlined in the school’s catalog. The College of Nursing and Advanced Health Professions and The Chicago School’s Dallas Campus are responsible for ensuring and documenting that all students have received a copy of the school’s grievance procedures and for describing these procedures in the school’s published catalog. If, as a student, you were not provided with this information, please inform school management.

Students dissatisfied with the College of Nursing and Advanced Health Professions’ and/or The Chicago School’s Dallas Campus’ response to their complaint or who are not able to file a complaint with the school, can file a formal complaint with TWC, as well as with other relevant agencies or accreditors, if applicable.

Utah

The Chicago School is registered with the State of Utah Department of Commerce, Division of Consumer Protection to offer its online programs to Utah residents.

A student who is a resident of Utah and who wishes to make a complaint about the institution should follow the process outlined here.

Vermont

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the Vermont Agency of Education and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in Vermont.

Virgin Islands

The Chicago School is not subject to oversight by the University of the Virgin Islands Board and is therefore able to deliver distance education programs to students who reside (are located) in the Virgin Islands.

Virginia

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is authorized by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia and meets the requirements for distance education certification as states in section §23.1-219 (F) of the Code of Virginia. This authorization is subject to periodic review and authorizes The Chicago School of Professional to offer distance education programs to Virginia residents. The Council may be contacted for a list of currently authorized programs. Authorization by the Council does not carry with it an endorsement by the Council of the institution or its programs. Washington

The Chicago School is authorized by the Washington Student Achievement Council and meets the requirements and minimum educational standards established for degree-granting institutions under the Degree-Granting Institutions Act. This authorization is subject to periodic review and authorizes The Chicago School to offer field placement components for specific degree programs. Washington, D.C.

The District of Columbia Higher Education Licensure Commission has granted a Certificate of License to Operate an Institution of Higher Education to The Chicago School to offer courses or instruction leading to the award of certificates, diplomas, or degrees in the District of Columbia.

West Virginia

The Chicago School is authorized by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission to offer certain online programs to West Virginia residents.

The Chicago School is authorized by the Wyoming Department of Education to offer its online programs to Wyoming residents.
