Dr. Janette Scardillo, director of Clinical Education and faculty specialist in Physical Therapy at the University of Scranton, brings extensive clinical education experience to her work preparing future physical therapists. Her teaching focuses on acute care, cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy, professionalism, and simulation. She is also active in professional organizations and clinical education leadership and holds a certificate in simulation from Drexel University.
Scardillo says her approach centers on experiential learning. She uses high-fidelity manikins, standardized patients, task trainers, telehealth simulations, and electronic medical records to recreate the complexity and uncertainty of real clinical environments. Students practice clinical skills, documentation, communication, and decision-making in psychologically safe settings where they can make mistakes without risking patient safety.
